Change

Change is required in order to have a relationship with Christ. Often when I minister to others who are new to faith tend to find it hard to change their old ways, habits and to be renewed. You see, no human can do this alone, we cannot do this without the spirit of God. First, change starts with surrendering our life to Him. He says in Ezekiel 36:26, "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

Only Jesus can do that. Right now, what you see will become your thoughts then your thoughts become roots in your heart. Those roots become the character that is revealed through you. Right there, in order to change, you have to start changing what you allow in your thoughts before it roots in your heart. It’s a daily choice and an active decision you have to make for the sake to walk in the righteous life that God has for you. What you do affects you, your family, your friends, your work, your health, and everything in your life. You have to make the decision to know that you’re worthy to live the life that God has in store for you.

There are some believers who have been walking blindly with a sinful habit or hiding a secret sin that will root up and destroy your life. You may feel it’s impossible but it’s only impossible when you allow it to be. You have to make the decision to give your whole life, I mean every areas of your life because only God who sees everything, He knows and yet He can renew you with a new mind, a new heart and new spirit.

If you say, “I don’t have time”, let me tell you that you do have time. You may be spending more time on something that is wasted when you could invest in something that will impact your life and eternity. If you can spend time on social media for hours, then darling, you are investing thoughts that can deceive you in making choices that will be harmful to you and to the people in your life. Anyone can post anything but it doesn’t mean that it is true. The grass is never greener on the other side. Social media has a way to deceive people thinking that other people’s lives are better than ours, but I can promise you that it isn’t. Satan’s favorite weapon is to toy with our weakness and when he can toy with what we see, he will keep going until it’s rooted in your life then you will miss what God can do.

Building expectations based on others or comparing yourself with others will lead you to disappointment and more false thinking. This will bring you nothing but destructive habits. Whatever you’re dealing with right now that is unhealthy, in order to change it begins with you. Humility brings honor. When you’re able to admit that you need to change something in your life right now because you know that it doesn’t honor God, that brings honor. He wants to renew you.  I encourage you to focus on the core of what toxic to your life and sanctify yourself from what is or has been rooted in your heart because that is preventing you from living the life that God has planned for you. Sanctification begins when you spend time with God’s words and make the decision to allow His spirit to convict you and guide you to make a change.

Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

That’s why God sent His son, Jesus Christ,  to show us the way. He is the life, the way and the only truth. His living words are our GPS and in order to change, we must surrender every areas of our life to renew our mind, heart and spirit. You’re worthy of that. You’re the living proof that God’s power can change lives like yours then others will see that and can be saved.

Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
