Danger of the Spirit of Offense
The spirit has led me to talk about the danger of holding on an offense because I’ve ministered many women who have struggled with letting go of a offense. I’ve spoke about this topic years ago on YouTube.com/DeafWomenofFaith. I wanted to share another testimony about the danger of holding on offenses which can rob you of God’s perfect Will for your life. If you hold on an offense too long then the roots of bitterness will defile you and others around you. (Hebrews 12:5)
In order to stay aligned in His perfect will, we must have a daily date with God and submit to all of His ways. When you are struggling to let go of offenses and not willing to give it to God wholeheartedly, it will delay the growing of new fruits in your life. We have to be careful not to allow our flesh to justify our feelings. We cannot avoid allowing God to handle the situation by avoiding it.
We often have a different idea of how we want the consequences to be because we based that on our pain, but the pain of refusing to let go of the offense is worse. When you don’t forgive, this shows what is in your heart. (Matthew 15:18) The enemy is the Father of Lies and he is so good at deceiving and nurturing your thoughts so we allow our pain to make the decisions without allowing God’s Living Words to help us walk in Spirit in order to heal properly.
21 “Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you. 22 Listen to his instructions, and store them in your heart. 23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored— so clean up your life.
Sometimes the struggle is to know how to reconcile with the person that hurt you. We need to use Biblical tools that Christ has given us. If we do not, we miss out on the blessings of Christ.
Here’s a scenario- Last year, two beautiful ladies reached out to me at the same time and I had no idea they knew each other or were talking about each other.God had a plan to heal both of them, but the enemy knew their weakness and had a plan to deceive them with his lies by using their unhealed wounds. God allowed this to be an opportunity for them to heal but it was also an opportunity for them to recognize their character flaws. This would require them to become humble to themselves and to the Spirit.
One of them had a hard past, many said she would never change. God said “perfectly qualified.” I knew God used me to minister her and to give her hope by sharing my testimony because she wasn’t the only one with a bad past. God healed me and look what He is doing in my life. This gave her hope. Next, it was to talk about forgiveness. Now she had to confront the ones she hurt so she can live in spirit of freedom. From there, I’ve witnessed her transformation because of her ongoing obedience, no matter how uncomfortable it is for her, but she wanted to be completely free from feeling ashamed of her past. It was the perfect opportunity for many who know her to witness God’s possibilities. Still to this day, she shares the miracles of God’s work in her life because she chose to obey.
The other one had a sheltered childhood and has a family that are very involved in her life. Satan can use that to deceive new believers that they’re blessed and that God wouldn’t accept someone who has a hard past. That’s where many are deceived. God looks at all of us equally. What you don’t know is, no matter how her life may look perfect, she has a false sense of self protection that harboring her offense. It prevented her from seeing her own character flaws because the blame is deferred to another. She wasn’t willing to acknowledge to her sins simply because she only sees the fault of the offender. She was blindsided by the enemy’s work through the eyes of her bitterness, pain, anger and doubt. The enemy was so good at deceiving her by festering her offenses to make poor decisions. It is sad to see such a beautiful soul covered in satan’s deception and it caused her to not understand the true meaning of forgiveness and reconciliation. At the same time, to miss out God’s perfect will to heal her too. Now her thoughts and words out of her mouth are not holy which means she hasn’t healed so therefore it makes it hard for anyone to seek reconciliation because she is set in her own ways.
You see, God can’t heal a heart if you’re focused through the eyes of satan, harboring your offenses, and avoid facing your own faults. An offense always starts with you because God want to show you the truth about the offense and give you a look through the eyes of the Holy Spirit. God’s attempt to develop your character by this opposition is now abandoned. Any offended person will avoid the source of the offense and eventually flee becoming a spiritual vagabond. People are not the issue, offenses starts with you and it is the only way how you will learn how to have God’s Biblical lens to interpret your offenses accurately. Trust me, you don’t want to find yourself walking 40 years later like the Israelites in the wilderness from their disobedience until you finally see the promised Land. (Joshua 5:6)
That’s why I’m passionate to teach the truth and I cannot let anyone who I minister to miss out on God’s opportunity to develop your character to be like Christ. Jesus didn’t come down to show us the way and die on the cross for us so we can continue to live in sin. He didn’t get whipped thousands of time to let us do what we think is right. He came down to free us from sin. He came down to prune the lies out of our life and fill us with His fruits. I refuse to let satan bond anyone into thinking that their ways are higher than God’s. If I don’t correct you to show you where to go, not only this person has the wrong message but it will also carry on to the people in their lives. God’s way are higher than ours. He wants to HEAL all of you but it requires complete submission and to trust God to work to finish what He started.
In order to experience God’s Unconditional love, we are called to walk in Spirit. Ephesians 4:11- 16 says “Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”
Satan says division and God says PROVISION.
You see if you leave a church or a relationship- it is the way you will enter into your next church or relationship. Jesus said in John 20:23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” You must grasp the true meaning of what it means to submit to God and let him free you from the offenses and He will heal you. When you walk in forgiveness, you will learn how to walk in His love then you will know how to walk together as one body of Christ. When you walk in freedom, the words out of your mouth would be Life giving words, praising God for what He has done and you can witness to others on how to walk together with unconditional love for one another.
If we are so set in our hearts not to face difficult situations and not to walk in Spirit, God will actually release us even though it is not His perfect Will. My life is a perfect example, of many offenses I could have held on to, but I chose not to because I wanted to walk in God’s perfect Will. It was hard at first but the more I spend time with Him, the more I had so much peace that new offenses no longer hurt me anymore. I understood the works of the devil and I knew the power of God’s goodness. I had to take the responsibility of teaching others God’s truth because I want each of you to walk in righteousness and reap God’s blessings.
God is using me to teach others how to let go the spirit of offenses because I know what it’s like with and without Him. I don’t want you to be robbed from the beauty of living in joy, peace, love, blessings, freedom, wisdom and many more. Why hold on something that leads to destruction, especially when it destroys you? Do you want him to give you wrath or be slow and loving to you? If you can’t forgive others then he cannot forgive you. How are you any different than others?
For Jesus said, Matthew 7:5 “You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.” This verse is a metaphor of a person with a plank in their own eye who criticizes someone for a speck in that person's eye.
When we are in a true relationship with Christ, we cannot take sides and we have to always be on God’s side. We are called to be unified as a body of Christ.
If I have never experience the pain of offenses and understand the power of God’s transformation and healing, then I wouldn’t be able to minister you. I wouldn’t be able to guide you by understanding the steps to take in order to walk in the true freedom in God’s truth. This is why DWOF is here and to give you a place to learn God’s words and His power in sign language.
I pray you make the decision to HALT, acknowledge the enemy’s work and armor yourself with God’s words. The more you step in obedience, the less harder it will be for you. Surrender your life with complete submission, trust Him to transform you to be like Christ and act in obedience so you can experience His perfect Will for your life.
